A Browne’s cup to remember.
This was a special year for us as we returned to hosting multiple teams in both the men’s and women’s sections for the first time in nearly a decade!
Browne’s Cup celebrates our former and long serving Club President, John Hoskins. Who carried over the competition from his previous club, Sudbury Town RFC, following their dissolution some years ago.
This year in the Men’s section we opted for an array of local teams hosting Old Actonians and Hampstead, with an unfortunate drop-out from UCS, each team playing each other in 40-min matches with a combined 1st/2nd XV squad.
For the Ladies, there was one full length Baa Baa’s style game in which Kilburn and Finsbury Park Panthers played against Hackney Ladies and Bracknell Ladies. It was a great opportunity to build links with other clubs and support the growth of women’s rugby.
It was a fantastic club day, with some great rugby played in the sun and a record crowd down in recent years. Fortuitously, both Kilburn outfits won their sections retaining the Browne’s Cup again!
